Aerocat SRX Production Model.
Elico House - Haliburton, ON, CA
Updated from Haliburton - Aug 15, 2008
Fuselage, Cowling, Interior Panels and Power Arch Plugs for the Production Model Aerocat® have been
struck here at Elico House and we will be accepting orders for Aerocat Kits beginning Aug. 15th, 2008.
Aerocat Designer Kirk Creelman said that, “we’re far enough along in the production setup that we can
finally start taking some orders.”
An order form along with a PDF of the total cost package and schedule is now up on the Aerocat
website located at www.creativeflight.com.
“ I anticipate seeing many Aerocats flying in the next 12-18 months. In order to do that we
need a show of support from serious customers,” says Kirk. The staff at Creative Flight/Aerocat
is anticipating rolling out parts for the Aerocat fuselage within the next 45 to 60 days.
“We have never taken order deposits in the past because we just weren’t close enough to the
finish line. We’re almost there now and need to allocate all our efforts to getting our first
customers their aircraft.”
The Aerocat project began here at Elico House in Haliburton in the latter half of 1998.
The first flight of the single engine version of the Aerocat occurred in July of 2001.
The prototype was test flown as a twin beginning in the fall of 2002 and it received its
Transport Canada Unrestricted Flight Permit on June 26, 2003.
That same summer we ran through the required spate of water trials and then flew the Aerocat
down to Oshkosh for the 2003 EAA AirVenture.
Our production model Aerocat underwent a few design upgrades that will add to
the overall esthetic and performance of the aircraft.
Kirk invested in a state-of-the-art flow program before putting the finishing touches on the prototype,
and all facets of flow and resistance have been tested to ensure maximum performance ratios.
The flow dynamic software package has replaced wind tunnel testing and is being used
exclusively today by a majority of the major players in the aircraft industry.
“Based on early prototype performance and recent production modifications we are anticipating +200mph
cruise speeds and 1100lbs useful load with full amphibious operation,” says Kirk.
“This is an incredible quick change vehicle that can accommodate every pilot’s desire.”

Aerocat SR Floats Off.
The quick change refers to the Aerocat’s unique design, which can accommodate a
switch from floats to land configuration in the space of 20 to 40 minutes.
The retractable gear slides through a baffled area of the floats to allow
for full amphibian operation. The new two-part float system will now allow a
single person to remove the hulls in preparation for runway-to-runway, cross-country flights.
Estimated time of conversion is about 20 minutes for removal and 30 minutes to install.
We are aware that the FAA will be rolling out some changes to the Amateur Build 51%
regulations and Kirk says that we will accommodate all of those changes and incorporate
our build options to comply with FAA Amateur Build Regulations.
“Whatever the new FAA amateur build 51% Regulations require, we will produce a kit that fits
within those regs,” says Kirk.
Aerocat is a quick build kit that will allow most builders to conform to the FAA regulations.
“We are striving to make a kit that is easily built by anyone and won’t require any special
assistance programs to get the job done.”
Build time for the quick build kit is estimated at from 400 to 600 hours.
Because we already have several buyers lined up for the first kits, Kirk says that prospective
buyers should get their deposits in ASAP to secure their kit position.
“If you want to be flying an Aerocat within the next two years - now is the time to order one.
A small, refundable no-risk deposit gets your name in the line and provides a reduced
introductory price guarantee,” adds Creelman.
