If you have access to rudder pedals and a joystick on your home computer you can take an Aerocat up for a test spin.

Open up the throttle feel it lift off from a virtual airfield. Cruise the skies and when you're ready just set her down again...take the Aerocat out from a beachfront, crank it to cruising speed and land it on a virtual runway.

Sound a little too out there... or goofy? Not at all. Technology and a compatible website makes test-flying the Aerocat a very tangible option. All you need is the Demo Software which can be downloaded at the official web site for virtual flying: X-Plane.com. X-Plane bills itself as the world's most comprehensive, powerful flight simulator and boasts the most realistic flight model available for personal computers.

The site is a popular stopping place for a number of pilots looking for different flying experiences. The physics-based simulator maps the model’s dimensions and horsepower and crunches that info into a workable and very real flying simulation.

Illustrated here is a preview of the Aerocats as they appear in the simulator program. Note: A visit to the X-Plane site will allow you to download the simulator program. (Short trial flights are free, but a fee is charged for full access to the site.)
